A guide to basic setup and use of EndNote for citation management.

Where to Find the Download Files

EndNote installation files for both PC and Mac are available for download through ASAP (linked below). When prompted, login with your ABC123 and password and then select "Software Downloads." The EndNote files are available at the top of the Software Downloads page.

Installing EndNote for Windows

Installation Instructions

  1. Close any Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.) applications before continuing.
  2. Click "Get EndNote25" to download and run the installation file
  3. Click next and input the product key in the box
  4. Click next, accept the terms of the license agreement.
  5. Choose Typical or Custom setup. If you are not sure, select Typical.
  6. Continue to click next and continue to complete the installation.

Installing EndNote for Mac

Installation Instructions

  1. Close any Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.) applications before continuing.
  2. Click "Get EndNote25" to download and run the installation file
  3. Click “Install” and continue to click “Next” on the subsequent screens.
  4. The installer will check for updates automatically. If an update is available, you can click “Download and Install” during this process.
