  • You may watch the recorded video (below) or attend a live session.
  • Pay special attention to unique features of each citation manager to help you determine which citation manager is the best fit for your needs.

Recorded Workshop: An Introduction to Citation Managers: Get and Stay Organized!

There are many citation managers. Which one is right for you? This recorded workshop will explain in greater detail what a citation manager is and how it can help you stay organized. Click the arrow to "Watch in Panopto" for the best video quality. Video length approximately 23 minutes.

Alternatively, if you prefer live instruction, attend a session of the live version of this workshop (see link below). The workshop is typically offered at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. You can register on the UTSA Libraries "Workshops & Events" page. Look for the workshop entitled, An Introduction to Citation Managers: Get and Stay Organized!

Citation Managers In-Depth

Your next step is to decide on a citation manager and learn how to use it. At a minimum, you should be able to download and install the application to your desktop, begin to create a citation library, and create a bibliography using the citation manager. You have two options and you only need to choose one.

  • Self-paced learning: Review the step-by-step instructions and videos on the Research Guide for your selected citation manager (see links below)
  • Attend a live workshop for your selected citation manager

What if you're still not sure which citation manager is right for you? You are welcome to review the step-by-step instructions or attend a workshop for more than one citation manager if you think that might help you decide.

If you have any questions and would like a one-on-one consultation, contact the Librarian "Expert" for your particular citation manager listed on the corresponding Research Guide. They will be happy to meet with you.
