CHE 4971: Proseminar (Oerther)

Libguide for CHE 4971 - Proseminar with Prof. Oerther

Accessing ACS Publications

  • To find the Impact Factor of ACS Journals, from your results page, click on the title of the article you are interested in to open the full record.  Then look for the menu bar under the journal name for About the Journal and choose About the Journal (or you can use the links next to the cover of the latest issue, located mid-page).
  • The phrases "as soon as publishable," "e-prints," "Articles ASAP," or "Just Accepted" all refer to preprint scientific papers that are available online but do not have a volume number, issue number, or print publication date. These articles have been peer-reviewed and accepted for publication in an ACS journal, but are posted online prior to technical editing, formatting for publication, and author proofing.
    • Articles ASAP can be viewed by selecting a journal from the ACS Publications A-Z list then following the "Aritcles ASAP" link.

ACS Publications Search Tips

  • Click on Advanced Search so that you have more search options, such as searching by Author, specifying a Date Range, and selecting Content Type (such as specific journal titles).
  • Search Tips are available in the right column of the Advanced Search window.
  • To search for a phrase, enclose the words in quotation marks.  (For example, a search for "electrochemical biosensors" if you want results with that specific phrase.  Searching for electrochemical biosensors will give results that have both words in the fields searched, but not necessarily together.
  • To search for various forms of a word, you can use * as a wildcard character. (For example, using biosens* as your search term will return results including terms such as biosensor, biosensors and biosensing.)
  • The option to Enable Stemming will search for various forms of a term, as well as other words with the same root.  (The example they give is a search for nanotubes that would return nanotube as well as any other term with the root word nano in it.)
