Fair Use Analysis Tools & Resources

It is important to conduct a Fair Use Analysis on each copyright-protected item you would like to use, each time you want to use it. Use the following tools to help you understand and conduct a Fair Use analysis.

Fair Use Evaluator
This tool, created by the American Library Association’s Office of Information Technology Policy, helps you conduct a fair use analysis on a copyrighted work you would like to use. You’ll be provided with a time-stamped and dated PDF document to keep in your records.
