Music on the Internet
Music collections online.
- Cylinder Audio Archive - UCSBFrom the website: "Before MP3s, CDs, cassettes and vinyl records, people listened to … cylinders. First made of tinfoil, then wax and plastic, cylinder recordings, commonly the size and shape of a soda can, were the first commercially produced sound recordings in the decades around the turn of the 20th century." Discover and listen to this online archive of cylinder recordings.
- Dismuke's Virtual Talking MachineThis site is devoted to vintage music from the early decades of the 20th Century. All recordings have been transcribed into streaming Real Audio from the original 78 rpm discs in my personal collection.
