Publication Process Tutorial

This tutorial covers the basics of the academic publishing process.

Timeline of Journal Publishing

While this timeline seems very linear, the time it takes to get from one box to another might take weeks to months to years!

Generally, you should only submit one manuscript to one journal and then wait on that decision.

If you're rejected, don't give up! Try another journal; tweak the article.

Once you've published, consider ways to share your article even more through your university's institutional repository. Here is the link to UTSA's Runner Research Press

Keep track of your publication's impact using scholarly metrics and author profiles. (We have a tutorial to help you learn more about this too!)
