Service-Learning and Civic Engagement
About the Center for Civic Engagement
The Center for Civic Engagement serves as a nucleus of support to students, faculty, and staff who aspire to advance the common good of San Antonio and the surrounding communities. We wish to be a university engaged with our community that educates students to be active citizens.
We recognize that the advancement of scholarship through teaching and research creates positive solutions that contribute to the well-being and betterment of not only San Antonio, but the state, nation and world beyond. We hope the contributions of the UTSA community can have a lasting impact on the creation of a community that values equanimity and at the same time aspires to raise levels of economic growth and social inclusion.
Our mission is to empower students, faculty and staff to serve society through community engaged scholarship that enriches learning, promotes civic literacy and contributes to the study of community needs and resources.
Our vision is that UTSA students, faculty and staff will develop a deep appreciation for serving society as an engaged citizen who takes an active role in democracy and enhancing the quality of life for the common good.

The Center for Civic Engagement invites you to join UTSA Engaged
UTSA Engaged powered by Givepulse.com is a new volunteer matching and tracking tool that allows members of the UTSA community to locate volunteer/community based-learning opportunities in the San Antonio region and to track their individual impacts.
This resource is available for students, faculty, staff and community partners who wish to utilize the system for community service opportunities (service-learning).
UTSA Engaged helps track UTSA’s collective impact in the community.
